Call of Cthulhu – Leaflet Mission

The special mission over Germany in February of 1945 is merely to drop leaflets on the enemy. The propaganda mission takes place at night and only involves two B-17 bombers: the Pretty Lady and the Big Money. Just another typical mission. At least it would be if it weren’t for the OSS ‘observer’ who has been assigned to mission to see that the leaflets fall where they’re supposed to. What is going on?

I ran Leaflet Mission at CaesarCon 2013 for four players on the Pretty Lady. They chose the co-pilot, flight engineer, ball turret gunner, and waist gunner as their characters. I also used a model of a B-17 Bomber as the centerpoint for the game. I plan to run another scenario involving the Big Money at CaesarCon 2014.

Call of Cthulhu – Dark Dreams of Innsmouth Part 2

In the Summer of 1925, three women get caught up in something they don’t understand. When Dr. Bonnie Davenport (psychiatrist and recent graduate from Boston University) receives a strange crown in the mail from her associate, Dr. Swanson Ames of Salem’s Normal School for Teachers, she has no idea of evil power of the artifact. She soon recruits two friends from college to help: Stella Farraday, a journalism student at Boston University, and Vera Collins, a silent-movie actress in Boston for the summer, taking acting classes at the University. The three begin their investigation of the terrible crown.

I ran two games of Call of Cthulhu (Dark Dreams of Innsmouth by Brian Courtemanche from “The Unbound Book” Issue 2) at Origins 2013 for three friends, all of them women. The first game was run June 14 and the conclusion was run June 15. Journals for the two games can be found here:

Call of Cthulhu – The Phantom of Wilson Creek – The Wizard of Wilson Creek Game 2 Part 2

In the summer of 1928, yet another group of Boston investigators tried to sort out the strange happenings around the Campbell House near Mortimer, NC.  The man who had been asked to deal with the house was debunker Marshall Hutchins.  He’d brought with him writer Stephen Tucker, photojournalist Thomas Fitzsimmons, dilettante Derek Masterson III ( who also fancied himself a writer), and occultist Simon Leavy.  The five men would find less to debunk than to fear.

In the second session of the game, played more than a year after the first, both Tucker and Leavy’s players weren’t there, so the addition of two new players meant the characters of Anna Phelps and Dr. Dakota Haley were added to the group.

This first game was originally run at CaesarCon 2012 in Bryan, Ohio, on March 17, 2012.  This second game was run on June 29, 2013.  The Wizard of Wilson Creek is the third scenario in The Phantom of Wilson Creek, a monograph I wrote that was recently published by Chaosium.  As the investigators fled the house without solving the newest mystery of the place in the game session I ran before, I thought someone else might be sent to sort things out.  The role playing journal of the events here can be found at:
