Call of Cthulhu – The Phantom of Wilson Creek – Return to Yellow Buck Mountain

In the summer of 1927, Boston Herald columnist William Madison received a letter from private investigator Alex Talbot, an associate.  More strange things were happening at an abandoned house in North Carolina and Talbot had no time (or inclination possibly) to deal with it.  Madison decided to make a vacation of the request, taking with him his wife, librarian Susan Madison, photographer Walter Corden, city reporter Robert “Bobby” Simon, Dr. Harvey Gibbens, and Reverend Michael Fullbright.  They would find things there that they could not explain.

This game was originally run at MACE 2011 in High Point, NC, on November 11, 2011.  Return to Yellow Buck Mountain is the second scenario in The Phantom of Wilson Creek, a monograph I wrote that was recently published by Chaosium.  The role playing journal of the events here can be found at:

Call of Cthulhu – The Phantom of Wilson Creek – The House on Yellow Buck Mountain Game 2

Private investigator Alex Talbot of Boston, Massachusetts, had been hired by an anonymous client to investigate a supposedly haunted house in the hills of North Carolina in the summer of 1926.  He figured it was a silly assignment, so brought his friend and associate Andrew Hastings, a psychiatrist, with him for a kind of vacation.  They would find things that neither of them would want to remember afterwards.

This game was originally run at MACE 2009 in High Point, NC, on November 8, 2009.  It is the first scenario in The Phantom of Wilson Creek, a monograph I wrote that was recently published by Chaosium.  As the first group did not figure out or stop what was haunting the house, I figured a second group might be hired by the first to do so.  The original name of the scenario was simply “The Inheritance” and the role playing journals of the events here can be found at:

In the summer of 1925, several Bostonians arrived in Lenoir, NC, in answer to an inheritance received by one of them.  Dr. Joseph Abington, Professor of Anthropology at Boston University was the man who had inherited a house from a cousin he didn’t know existed.  With him were his accountant, Alexander Reed, and Mr. Reed’s Secretary, Mary Weatherly.  He’d also brought his friend Dr. Frederick Mann, a physician in Boston, and his graduate assistant, Christopher “Chip” Nelson.  They would find more than they bargained for in that old house.

Delta Green – Puppet Shows and Shadow Plays Part 1

On Friday, August 8, 1997, three special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation stationed in Phoenix, Arizona, were sent to investigate a missing-persons case in nearby San Carlos.  Thirteen people had disappeared off the same road near the town in the last month.

Agent Arthur Crispy was only a year from retirement and looked it.  He had been horribly burned years before.  Sasha Petrova had been born in the U.S. of Russian immigrants and was a martial arts expert and excellent driver.  Maude Grant had been educated with hostage rescue team maneuvers.  This is their story.

On November 12, 2010, I ran a Delta Green game as a one-shot to test out the game for a review in Knights of the Dinner Table Magazine.  As we didn’t complete the game (due to the fantastic role-playing), it ended up going for two sessions.  My players were Cesar, Yamil, and Melissa.  I ran the introductory scenario from the Delta Green book: Puppet Shows and Shadow Plays.  I also used the online handouts by Graham Kinniburgh [Adam Astonbury].
