Call of Cthulhu – Christmas in Kingsport

It’s Christmastime in the seaport town of Kingsport, Massachusetts, in 1927. Time for presents and food and cookies and all the wonderful things associated with the holidays. The best part is seeing cousins from nearby towns of Arkham, Dunwich, and even Innsmouth at this most festive time of the year. Unfortunately, they’re all staying at their great Aunt Nora’s with their families as they do every year. Aunt Nora is very set in her ways and Christmas is no exception.

On December 11, 2016, I ran a one-shot for Christmas. “Christmas in Kingsport” by Oscar Rios is a delightful little tale in the Christmas in Kingsport monograph. My players were Ashton and Collin.

Advanced Dungeons and Dragons – Redcap’s Rampage Session One

Having finally escaped the orcs, the group of adventurers find themselves in a village beset by a terrible curse that has already killed three people. Can they learn the secret of the village of Luskwald and end the terrible curse?

On Sunday, October 16, 2016, I continued the AD&D campaign for friends in the Boone, N.C., area started in June 2016. We started “Redcap’s Rampage” by Christopher Perkins from Dungeon Adventures #54. My players were Kyle, Adam, Collin, Ashton, Hannah, and Aaron.

Call of Cthulhu Providence Campaign 34 – Rise of the Sleeper Session Two

Nothing is right in New Dunwich. The investigators saw some terrible thing in the swamp and the people never come out during the day. The house is haunted and seemingly working against them. Can they hope to survive the week before a local returns with the boat?

I started running a Call of Cthulhu campaign for students at Appalachian State University in March 2014. The game was set in Providence, R.I., starting in the summer of 1925. The 34th session of the game took place on September 25, 2016, with the scenario “Rise of the Sleeper” by Scott David Aniolowski from Lurking Fears. My players were Katelyn, Collin, and Ashton.

Superworld Campaign 16 – Pursuit from Down Under

The mayor of Charlotte wants to present Arclight and the Outliers (Arclight and Friends?) with medals for their service to the city. But the ceremony proves to be a trap. Can the help of a brand-new superhero save the group, or will Arclight have to kill someone?

I started running a Superworld campaign for students at Appalachian State University in September 2014. The game was set in Charlotte, N.C., starting in the fall of 2014. It was a continuation of the stand-alone game of Superworld I ran in August, though taking place in the present instead of the 1980s, a kind of continuation of that game. This 16th session of the game took place on Jan. 17, 2016, with the original scenario “Pursuit from Down Under.” My players were Kyle, Hannah, Aaron, and Joey.

Superworld Campaign 15 – The Visitor

A new superhero arrives in Charlotte and must deal with the strangeness there.

This 15th session of the game took place on Oct. 18, 2015, with the original scenario “The Visitor.” My players were Katie and James.
