Tales of the Arabian Nights

Fiftheye Productions tries out Tales of the Arabian Nights by Zman Games!

Introduced to us by our new player Lisa, this fantastic board game has players exploring ancient Arabia while trying to spin stories and discover destiny. It uses a series of charts and ‘encounter matrices’ to feature over 2500 different possible encounters across the span of a game. I wasn’t able to make it, so the players were:

Lisa, who was kind enough to demo the game
Graz,
Jackie,
and Kat

Information on the game can be found on the creator’s website and on BoardGameGeek.

Join JULIUS JEWELS, MIRIAM “SMITH”, and DAISY DUBOIS as they are exposed to the first stirrings of the plan of the dastardly DOCTOR LAZARUS!  THRILL as they duel his MAFIA GOONS!  CHILL as his TEMPORAL POWERS are shown!  LAUGH as some pretty silly stuff happens with a CHARIOT and a SALAD!

Call of Cthulhu – The Phantom of Wilson Creek – The Wizard of Wilson Creek Game 2

In the summer of 1928, yet another group of Boston investigators tried to sort out the strange happenings around the Campbell House near Mortimer, NC.  The man who had been asked to deal with the house was debunker Marshall Hutchins.  He’d brought with him writer Stephen Tucker, photojournalist Thomas Fitzsimmons, dilettante Derek Masterson III ( who also fancied himself a writer), and occultist Simon Leavy.  The five men would find less to debunk than to fear.

This game was originally run at CaesarCon 2012 in Bryan, Ohio, on March 17, 2012.  The Wizard of Wilson Creek is the third scenario in The Phantom of Wilson Creek, a monograph I wrote that was recently published by Chaosium.  As the investigators fled the house without solving the newest mystery of the place in the game session I ran before, I thought someone else might be sent to sort things out.  The role playing journal of the events here can be found at:

Call of Cthulhu – The Phantom of Wilson Creek – The Wizard of Wilson Creek

In late spring of 1928, when Boston attorney Daniel Fuller receives a letter from William Abington asking him to look into strange events happening at a piece of property he owns in North Carolina, he takes on the investigation himself.  Enlisting the aid of Bill McAfee, a uniformed Boston police officer, he heads to North Carolina.  The two men are soon joined by a friend of McAfee’s Nurse Nancy Brannigan.  The three find more than they bargained for.

This game was originally run at MACE 2011 in High Point, NC, on November 12, 2011.  It started with just one player (Daniel Fuller) so I added an npc to help him along.  Luckily, a second player showed up halfway through the game.  The Wizard of Wilson Creek is the third scenario in The Phantom of Wilson Creek, a monograph I wrote that was recently published by Chaosium.  The role playing journal of the events here can be found at:

Call of Cthulhu – The Phantom of Wilson Creek – Return to Yellow Buck Mountain

In the summer of 1927, Boston Herald columnist William Madison received a letter from private investigator Alex Talbot, an associate.  More strange things were happening at an abandoned house in North Carolina and Talbot had no time (or inclination possibly) to deal with it.  Madison decided to make a vacation of the request, taking with him his wife, librarian Susan Madison, photographer Walter Corden, city reporter Robert “Bobby” Simon, Dr. Harvey Gibbens, and Reverend Michael Fullbright.  They would find things there that they could not explain.

This game was originally run at MACE 2011 in High Point, NC, on November 11, 2011.  Return to Yellow Buck Mountain is the second scenario in The Phantom of Wilson Creek, a monograph I wrote that was recently published by Chaosium.  The role playing journal of the events here can be found at:

Call of Cthulhu – The Phantom of Wilson Creek – The House on Yellow Buck Mountain Game 2

Private investigator Alex Talbot of Boston, Massachusetts, had been hired by an anonymous client to investigate a supposedly haunted house in the hills of North Carolina in the summer of 1926.  He figured it was a silly assignment, so brought his friend and associate Andrew Hastings, a psychiatrist, with him for a kind of vacation.  They would find things that neither of them would want to remember afterwards.

This game was originally run at MACE 2009 in High Point, NC, on November 8, 2009.  It is the first scenario in The Phantom of Wilson Creek, a monograph I wrote that was recently published by Chaosium.  As the first group did not figure out or stop what was haunting the house, I figured a second group might be hired by the first to do so.  The original name of the scenario was simply “The Inheritance” and the role playing journals of the events here can be found at:
