The Faculty Party

The Miskatonic University English Department is holding their annual Halloween party, and you have been cordially invited. The English Dept party is unlike the kind of party found at the local speakeasy; their party is a series of dramatic readings covering some of the greatest authors of horror fiction. The party-goers meet in a smoke-filled room and debate the authors over snacks, coffee, English and Indian tea.

Conversations and smoke float through the air as the faculty and guests are having a good time, everyone except Prof. Janice Moor. Prof. Moor teaches French Romantic Lit and has been in a blue mood for several weeks now. Her friends and coworkers had hoped that the party would help cheer her up, but no amount of joy has succeeded in lifting her out of her dark depression. Everyone secretly wonders what is bothering her.

Your players are packing enough iron to start a small war! I haven’t made it all the way to the end of the recording yet, but I have a feeling that their arsenal will be of little use when they really get down to business.

I’ve gotta say, Jon: you’re a much kinder Keeper than I would have been in that situation. If any of my players asked if they could bring an elephant gun to a poetry reading, I probably would have laughed and then laughed some more and then laughed even more and then replied, “Of course not.” But I guess you knew what they were up against and cut them some slack.

Good game so far. I have a feeling it’s not going to end so well for the Investigators.

PS: I like the player who decided that Professor Moor’s death was a murder and then proceeded to don all of the tribal gear in the Dean’s office before going on a hunt for the responsible party. I hope her character doesn’t go squish too painfully.

I think that the amount of stuff they had was fine, it was a con game, felt like it was supposed to be light and fun. **SPOILER** Plus once you listen all the way, you’ll find that almost all the guns in the world won’t really help anyway, so I would have let it go as well just because it would be so absurd and ridiculous…

Thanks guys! Yes, without giving away any spoilers, I was happy to let the players bring whatever they wanted because I knew it would amount to naught.
